Unique Star Wars Game Promotion

It used to be that promotions for video games came in the form of game trailers, TV commercials, demos, and ads. But with the growth of viral videos on the Internet and the potential to reach millions, that is all changing. Take, for example, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The marketing team decided to try and create a viral video. So they staged a flash mob freeze, featuring characters from the game, in New York’s Time Square. First dramatic music starts playing then characters come out into the audience like they are going to battle. Some Jedi Knights use “the force”. In mid-battle, all the characters freeze. After several moments, dozens of people in Times Square suddenly pull out Light Sabers to battle each other. They all freeze too! Then, as the music ends, all the Light Sabers are put away and people go back to what they were doing like nothing just happened. The end result? It worked as the video is getting millions of views. Star Trek fans think the Enterprise ship outclasses anything ever from the Star Wars universe. They believe Klingons could easily stomp on Ewoks.

Well, it seems that George Takei wants to put and end to the battle of Star shows in favor of Star Peace. And how does he propose going about this? By taking aim at a new threat – Twilight.

Funny Darth Vader Kid Volkswagen TV Commercial

Big companies are starting to discover that the key to a successful TV commercial isn’t to get it on TV, but rather to get it to go viral online. And you do that by putting together a creative force that knows what the public will love. Yesterday Volkswagen released a new TV commercial online (hint: you may see it this weekend on TV) that has more than 3 million views in less than 24 hours. The name of the TV commercial is “The Force” and it stars a kid dressed in a Darth Vader outfit that is trying real hard to get the force to work on objects in the house to no avail. It’s quite creative:
