Future Technology and Gadgets

When Electrolux held a competition for people to imagine future technologies and gadgets, they received some pretty impressive entries. And it is likely that we will see some of these entries in our future. Probably the strangest of the technologies is the gel refrigerator. Instead of opening a door and sticking your food into a fridge, you simply place your food in the gel and it remains at an optimized temperature. When you’re ready to use it again, you just reach into the clear gel and pull it out. The gel doesn’t get on your hands and your food stays fresh.

In this video there are eight concepts that are being further explored thanks to the minds of some creative people looking to improve the technologies of the future.

Glass Technology and the Future of Glass

This video was made by Corning to demonstrate how glass will evolve in the near future. In fact, some of the technology is already a reality (ie PhotoVoltaic glass windows are already a reality – you can see them in action at the Kodak Theater tour in Hollywood). Other glass technologies are being developed and a few more demonstrated are on the drawing board.

The name of the video is “A Day Made of Glass” and it follows a couple as they go about their day and how glass is an important part of that day. It kind of gets you thinking about what is coming next when it comes to technology…

Bottoms Up – Beer Fills From Bottom of Cup

When you think of technological advancements, you usually think in terms of electronics. However, technology is advancing in many other areas as well. Take, for example, the new beer device called Bottoms Up. It is a dispenser, that when used with special cups, fills up the cup with beer from the bottom up. The dispenser already holds the world’s record for the most glasses of beer filled by one person in one minute (40 beers in a minute). The advancement is in the form of the disposable cups which allow the dispenser to fill the cup from the bottom then seals shut so that beer doesn’t leak. It’s really quite impressive and here is an amateur video of it in action…
